Vaughan Associates identified employee ownership in Australian investment managers as the key defining feature over a number of start-up firms, commonly known as boutiques, which appeared at the start of the decade.

Our initial attraction to researching these firms was the quality of people and processes and the strong investment culture which we found on our initial on-site visits. Our early predictions of success for these firms have been vindicated and we continue a strong research interest in the sector.
